Registration closes Thursday, Oct. 15, for Murphy’s third annual family campout, scheduled for Friday, Nov. 13, through Saturday, Nov. 14, at Murphy Central Park Pond.
Last year’s event offered space for 50 families and sold out, according to the Murphy Monitor.
A campsite costs $50 for a family or group of up to five campers. The fee includes dinner, breakfast and a commemorative T-shirt. Vegetarian meals are available upon request.
Families can check availability and register through the city’s campout page. Murphy residents received priority registration beginning Aug. 10, and registration opened to nonresidents Oct. 1.
Activities and meals
Check-in runs from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday, with fishing and yard games available until dusk.
The s’mores pit opens at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. An outdoor movie begins at 8 p.m.; the title has not been announced. Quiet hours start at 10 p.m.
Breakfast is scheduled for 7 a.m. Saturday, with pack-up and cleanup at 9 a.m., according to the city’s 2026 event schedule.
What to bring
Campers should bring their own tent, sleeping bags or cots, flashlights, insect repellent, extra clothing, jackets and lawn chairs. Fishing gear, water bottles and necessary medications are also recommended, the Monitor reported.
The city’s published campout rules require adult supervision overnight and parents to accompany children younger than 13 during activities. They prohibit pets, open flames, generators, grills, glass containers and alcohol, and state that adults must have a fishing license to fish.
The rules page still contains a 2025 cleanup date, so families should confirm current requirements with organizers and follow the schedule on the 2026 event page.
Parking is available at the PSA North Lot, 330 N. Murphy Road. Overflow parking is at the Murphy City Hall Complex, 206 N. Murphy Road. The city asks campers not to park in surrounding neighborhoods.
