Murphy is throwing an adult Halloween party Oct. 24 with a costume contest offering up to $500 in prizes.
The Witches Brew Bash starts at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at 205 N Murphy Rd. The city's event calendar lists the event as free to attend with an RSVP required. However, a separate Eventim listing for the same event shows a $15 ticket price and describes it as an 18-and-older event. Residents planning to attend should confirm pricing and age requirements with the city before the event.
The costume contest is the main draw. Two categories will be judged: Best Overall Individual and Group/Couple. Prizes total up to $500.
The evening also includes music, dancing, a photo booth, games and a light snack bar. The Murphy Chamber of Commerce is running a bar where drinks will be available for purchase.
Ty Lake, executive director of the Murphy Chamber of Commerce, leads the organization behind the bar service. The chamber, which has hosted community events such as the Great Donut Hunt earlier this year, can be reached at (972) 805-3749 for questions about its role in the event.
The city's listing encourages costumes but does not say they are required. Attendees are welcome to dress as witches, movie characters or anything else.
Residents can RSVP through the city's website.
