Plano East running back Treyce Seldon rushed for 170 yards and two touchdowns Friday, Oct. 16, leading the Panthers past rival Plano 31-17 at Tom Kimbrough Stadium in Murphy.

The District 7-6A victory moved Plano East to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in district play. The Panthers have won three straight games and outscored opponents 224-129 through seven contests this season, according to MaxPreps.

Seldon carried the ball 27 times against the Wildcats. Quarterback Josh Gordon completed 14 of 19 passes for 194 yards and a touchdown, completing 73.7% of his attempts, and added 37 rushing yards and a score on the ground.

Gordon connected with receiver Aidan Forthman on a 58-yard flea-flicker touchdown that the Murphy Monitor reported helped shift momentum after Plano had built an early lead.

Seldon's 170-yard performance marked his third consecutive game with at least 110 rushing yards, according to MaxPreps. The sophomore won the District 6-6A Offensive Newcomer of the Year award last season after finishing with 870 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns.

He has picked up where he left off. Seldon had 694 yards and 12 touchdowns on 109 carries entering the Oct. 16 game, according to The Dallas Morning News stat leaders through Oct. 14. A week earlier, he rushed for 148 yards and four touchdowns in Plano East's 39-35 comeback win over Richardson on Oct. 9.

Gordon also had 204 passing yards and a touchdown in that Richardson game, giving the senior quarterback back-to-back strong outings heading into the second half of district play.

Plano fell to 2-5 overall and 2-2 in District 7-6A with the loss. The Wildcats have dropped three of their last four road games, according to MaxPreps.

Plano East travels to Richardson Berkner on Friday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m. for another district matchup. Berkner enters on a two-game winning streak after beating Plano West 43-7 on Oct. 9 and Richardson 35-25 on Oct. 16, according to GM Sports Media. The Panthers close the regular season at home against JJ Pearce on Oct. 30 and at Coppell on Nov. 5.
