Sachse High School's annual Turkey Trot returns Thanksgiving morning with a 5K and a 1-mile fun run, and online registration is open through Nov. 26.
The race takes place Thursday, Nov. 26, at Sachse High School, 3901 Miles Rd. Proceeds support the Class of 2027 and senior class events, according to the event's registration page.
The fun run starts at 7 a.m. The 5K walk/run follows at 8 a.m. The 5K course is certified by Compton Time and Measure, and awards go to the top three finishers in each age group and gender in the 5K. Only runners with a timed bib qualify for awards.
Organizers are also accepting donations toward a $10,000 fundraising goal. As of late October, the page showed $100 raised.
How to register
Online registration is available anytime through the RunSignUp page. A processing fee applies to each registration. No refunds will be issued for any reason, and organizers say registration fees go directly toward supporting the senior class.
Packet pickup
Runners can pick up race packets at two locations before the event:
- Saturday, Nov. 21, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Sachse High School front foyer during the Lady Mustangs Craft Fair
- Monday, Nov. 23, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Fitness Xpress, 7340 S. Hwy 78, Suite 300, Sachse
Senior Mustang sponsors can also pick up T-shirts during those times.
Race day details
Parking is available at Sewell Elementary School, Hudson Middle School and the Sachse High student lots. Restrooms will be inside the school near the main entrance. No gear check is available, so participants should plan to keep personal items with them.
Organizers recommend arriving at least 30 minutes before your start time and dressing in layers for comfort. The race runs rain or shine.
