Sachse High School has won the Garland ISD Superintendent's Cup for the 10th year in a row, a run no other program in the eight-school district has achieved.
The school announced the milestone on its official X account on Tuesday, Oct. 6, posting a photo of the coaching staff taken the day the award was presented. The Superintendent's Cup goes to the Garland ISD high school with the top overall athletic program each year.
A decade of dominance is rare at any level. Ten consecutive wins means the Mustangs have held the title across multiple coaching staffs, graduating classes and full roster turnover in more than a dozen varsity sports.
Sachse competes at the UIL Class 6A level and fields teams in football, basketball, volleyball, soccer, cross country, track and field, softball, golf, tennis and swimming and diving. The Cup recognizes combined achievement across those programs, not a single sport's success.
The streak has outlasted the administrator who oversaw much of it. Shae Creel served as Sachse's principal from 2016 until he was named Garland ISD athletic director on June 22, according to Sachse News. In his new district-level role, Creel now oversees the same award he helped Sachse win year after year.
Garland ISD Athletics confirmed Sachse's 2022-23 Cup win in a July 2023 post, recognizing the Mustangs for their overall athletic achievement that school year. That win was one of the building blocks in the streak that reached 10 this fall.
Sachse is one of eight high schools in Garland ISD competing for the Cup each year. The school enrolled 2,935 students in the 2024-25 school year.
No upcoming ceremony or schedule tied to the award has been announced.
