Wylie ISD opened O.W. Hampton Intermediate and Richard Parker Junior High on Aug. 13, adding two campuses and establishing a new feeder pathway to Wylie East High School.
The schools sit side by side off Kreymer Lane between Brown Street and Mossy Oak Lane. Hampton serves fifth- and sixth-graders, while Parker serves seventh- and eighth-graders.
Funded through the district’s 2023 voter-approved Growth Management Bond, the campuses represent a combined investment of approximately $136.3 million, according to The Wylie Times. The publication reported costs of about $56.9 million for Hampton and $79.4 million for Parker.
Under the 2026–27 feeder pattern, students from Bush and Kreymer elementary schools attend Hampton, then Parker, before entering Wylie East.
The openings follow Kreymer Elementary’s debut in August 2025, giving the district three new schools across two consecutive school years. Trustees approved updated attendance boundaries in January 2025 to accommodate growth and balance enrollment, according to the district’s rezoning page.
Dale Ramirez is Hampton’s inaugural principal. He has spent his public education career in Wylie ISD, beginning as a fifth-grade science teacher at Harrison Intermediate in 2011. He later taught at Burnett Junior High and served in campus leadership roles, according to the district’s announcement.
Dr. Andie Doty leads Parker after serving as the district’s director of assessment and accountability. Her two decades in education include teaching eighth-grade science at Burnett and serving as an assistant principal at McMillan Junior High and Wylie High School, according to Wylie ISD.
Families of both schools’ namesakes joined district leaders at an Oct. 21, 2025, groundbreaking.
O.W. “Hamp” Hampton served the community as a volunteer firefighter, city council member, school board trustee and mayor. His son, Richard Hampton, spoke on the family’s behalf. Former Wylie ISD trustee Mitch Herzog, Richard Parker’s son-in-law, also addressed the gathering.
Both campuses adopted the Raiders mascot, aligning with their Wylie East feeder pattern.
The district’s next trustee election is Tuesday, Nov. 3. Places 1, 2, 5 and 6 are on the ballot, with five candidates competing for the open Place 2 seat. Early voting runs Oct. 19–30, according to the district’s election page.
