Wylie's only downtown craft taproom has a standing invitation for neighbors through September: food trucks every Friday and free trivia every Wednesday.
Glen Echo Brewing at 106 N. Birmingham St. is running Food Truck Fridays from 2–11 p.m. each week, with the next dates on Aug. 21, Aug. 28 and Sept. 4, according to the Wylie Times. Rotating local trucks set up in the parking area while the taps stay open until close. The lineup changes weekly; Glen Echo's Instagram page is the best place to check which truck is coming.
Wednesday Trivia nights start at 6:30 p.m. inside the taproom, with upcoming rounds on Aug. 19, Aug. 26 and Sept. 2. The taproom is small, so groups tend to claim tables early. Arriving a few minutes before 6:30 helps secure a spot.
Both events are free. No cover, no tickets, no registration. Guests pay only for what they order.
The brewery also launched a new food menu in August, paired with its current tap rotation: Pilsner, Kolsch, Hefeweizen, Bock and a Chocolate Milk Stout. Gluten-free seltzers round out the drink list for those skipping barley.
Past food truck guests have included Dragon's Burger House and Wiese's Wieners, according to the brewery's Instagram posts. Love Life & Pizza, a Neapolitan wood-fired truck, is already booked for Friday, Sept. 11.
Glen Echo is open Wednesday through Sunday and sits one block off Ballard Avenue. Parking is on-street and free.
The taproom's next big event after the weekly series: its third annual Oktoberfest, scheduled for Oct. 2–4 with keg tapping, live music, stein holding and Dachshund races, according to Discover Downtown Wylie.
