Murphy, Wylie and Sachse residents can check their voter registration status online through a new state portal before the Oct. 5 deadline for the Nov. 3 election.

Texas Secretary of State Robert Howden launched the portal, which lets voters confirm their registration, register for the first time or update their information, according to Sachse News. The deadline to register is Monday, Oct. 5.

Collin County has emerged as a closely watched battleground in the U.S. Senate race between Democrat James Talarico and Republican Ken Paxton, as Democrats work to narrow the traditionally wide Republican margins in the fast-growing suburban county, according to KERA News. The Nov. 3 ballot also includes races for governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, all 38 U.S. House seats under newly redrawn districts and several state court seats, according to Fox 7 Austin.

How the portal works

Voters enter their name, date of birth and either a ZIP code and county, driver's license number or voter ID number to check their status. The site is available in English and Spanish.

New registrants fill out a form online, then must print it, sign it and mail it to the Secretary of State's office. The form requires a driver's license number, Texas ID number or the last four digits of a Social Security number.

1.2 million Texans on 'suspense' list

About 1.2 million voters statewide, roughly 6.6% of the state's more than 18 million registered voters, were on the state's "suspense" list as of late August 2026, according to the Associated Press. That designation usually means a voter's address is outdated.

Suspense voters are not removed from the rolls. They can still cast a ballot but may need to confirm their address at the polls. Alicia Pierce, a spokesperson for the Secretary of State's office, told Fox 4 in late August that the number is typical. "It sounds scary, but it's not," Pierce said.

Dallas County residents can also check their status at DallasCountyVotes.org.
