Sachse's cross country teams claimed both team championships and both individual crowns at the Rockwall High School Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 26.
Junior Arora Ngo won the girls varsity race in 19 minutes, 34 seconds. Junior Dominic Richardson took the boys title in 16:10. The four-title sweep marks the second time this season the Mustangs have run the table at an invitational, after doing the same at the Crandall Pirate Invitational on Sept. 5.
David Wolman of Sachse News first reported the individual results and race details. Texas MileSplit confirmed the meet date and location.
The Lady Mustangs placed seven runners in the top 20, with an eighth close behind. Alicia Payne, a junior, finished second in 19:48. Junior Kaitlyn Herrera was seventh (21:07), junior Adeline Moss 11th (22:08), junior Brisa Morales 12th (22:09), senior Brighton Cook 16th (22:32) and freshman Niki Richardson 20th (22:53). Junior Colette Leonard rounded out the group in 22nd (23:10).
The boys' side was just as lopsided. Sachse placed four runners in the top five. Senior Samuel Ledbetter finished third in 15:46, junior Sadiki Mburu was fourth in 16:16 and senior Ozzy Heredia fifth in 16:48. Sophomore Joseph Castaneda and junior Ryan King both clocked 18:16 to finish 23rd and 24th, and junior Grayson Redden placed 36th in 19:17.
Richardson has been building toward this kind of season. As a sophomore, he won the boys individual title at the 2025 District 9-6A championship, crossing first in 15:55. Head coach Kacey Laughery said of Richardson after that October 2025 district win: "He's always had the potential … The Wylie East kid came out fast, but Dominic stuck to his plan and caught him in the last mile."
The Mustangs won both District 9-6A titles in 2025 for the first time since 2016, according to Sachse News coverage of that meet. Sachse's stated goal entering this season was to defend both crowns.
The Mustangs now turn their attention to the District 9-6A cross country meet. The date has not been announced publicly, but the district championship is the next major milestone on the schedule.
