Business owners along Sachse's Highway 78 corridor can recover up to $25,000 in matching funds for storefront, landscaping, and parking lot improvements through a grant program the Sachse Economic Development Corporation is accepting applications for.
The Sachse Local Business Grant Program covers up to 75 percent of eligible project costs, according to the Sachse Journal. That means a business spending $33,333 on qualifying exterior work could get $25,000 back from the EDC, keeping its out-of-pocket cost around $8,333.
The program targets three categories of work:
- Façade improvements — signage, exterior paint, cladding, windows, and entryway upgrades
- Landscaping — plantings, irrigation, hardscaping, and streetscape work
- Infrastructure — parking lot repairs, lighting, and similar exterior structural improvements
Interior remodels do not qualify. Only businesses located along the Highway 78 corridor in Sachse are eligible.
Why the corridor matters
Highway 78 is Sachse's commercial spine, home to restaurants and retailers including Dutch Bros Coffee, Osaka Hibachi Sushi & Bar, The Tipsy Chicken, Frankie's Mexican Cuisine, and Jake's Burgers and Beer. The EDC's rationale, per the Sachse Journal: improved storefronts draw more foot traffic, which generates more sales tax revenue for the city.
The timing is strategic. The Station, a $500 million, 134-acre mixed-use development built by PMB Capital along the President George Bush Turnpike between Miles Road and Merritt Road, is bringing more than 1,000 residential units and a 34-acre park to Sachse. Tenants including Cane Rosso, The Brass Tap, and Manny's Tex-Mex are already open. The grant program helps existing Highway 78 businesses compete as that growing customer base fills in.
How to apply
The EDC administers the program through its website. Business owners must demonstrate they are committing their own funds. The EDC does not cover the full project cost.
No application deadline is listed in public materials.
