Sachse residents can meet local police officers, firefighters and the Secret Service at a free Public Safety Day on Saturday, Oct. 17.

The Sachse Police Department and Sachse Fire-Rescue are hosting the event from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Public Safety Building, 3815-D Sachse Road. The department announced the lineup in a Facebook post inviting families to spend the morning with first responders.

The Secret Service is among the participating organizations, alongside Carter BloodCare, Lone Star Search and Rescue, Animal Services and Medical City Sachse. The Secret Service's community outreach efforts typically focus on financial crimes education, including counterfeit currency awareness and fraud prevention, according to Sachse Journal.

Carter BloodCare will run an on-site blood drive during the event. Lone Star Search and Rescue, a Texas-based search and rescue organization, will also have a presence.

For kids, the morning includes face painting, games and free ice cream. The Credit Union of Texas food truck will serve food from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

The event is free and open to all ages. No registration has been announced.

Fallfest and Fall-O-Ween follow at Heritage Park

Public Safety Day is the first of three free events packed into Oct. 17. The Sachse Chamber of Commerce's Fallfest returns to Heritage Park, 4408 Hudson Dr., with more than 100 vendor booths, live music, cheer and dance performances, a Touch-a-Truck area, a men's best legs contest and a pet photo contest.

Fall-O-Ween follows at the same park from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. That event features a haunted maze, petting zoo, costume contests, a trick-or-treat market, a cornhole tournament and a drone show at 7:30 p.m.

The three events do not overlap in a way that forces a choice. A family could start the morning at the Public Safety Building and move to Heritage Park for the afternoon and evening.
