Strong to severe thunderstorms could move through Murphy, Wylie and Sachse late Monday night, ahead of Election Day voting Tuesday, Nov. 3.

The National Weather Service’s Monday afternoon forecast puts a line of storms through the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex between about 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. Damaging winds are the main concern, with a few tornadoes possible. Large hail could accompany individual storms developing farther west before the line forms, according to the NWS forecast discussion.

That timing is earlier than some morning forecasts. Residents should check for updates and have weather alerts enabled overnight.

Most of North Texas, including the Metroplex, is under a level 2 out of 5 severe-weather risk, CBS News Texas reported.

The main storm line is expected to pass through the Metroplex before polls open at 7 a.m., though lingering rain remains possible farther east. Conditions should improve Tuesday afternoon, with cooler temperatures in the 70s and breezy northwest winds.

Polls remain open until 7 p.m. Anyone in line by closing time may stay and vote.

Registered voters in Collin and Dallas counties can use any authorized Election Day vote center within their own county. They do not need to return to the location they used during early voting.

Collin County has 90 Election Day polling locations, according to Sachse News. Elections Administrator Kaleb Breaux encouraged residents to plan ahead and consider nearby locations that may be less busy.

Collin County residents can check locations and wait times through the county’s polling-location page. Dallas County voters can find election information at dallascountyvotes.org.
