Families in the Wylie East feeder pattern will send their kids to two brand-new campuses when Wylie ISD opens for the 2026-27 school year on Thursday, August 13. O.W. Hampton Intermediate and Richard Parker Junior High, built with a combined $136.3 million from the district's 2023 voter-approved Growth Management Bond, are finishing final punch-list work off Kreymer Lane between Brown Street and Mossy Oak Lane.
Hampton Intermediate cost approximately $56.9 million; Parker Junior High carries a price tag of about $79.4 million, according to Wylie News. Both feed into Wylie East High School. Students at both campuses will be Raiders.
Dale Ramirez, who spent his entire public education career in Wylie ISD starting in 2011, will lead Hampton Intermediate as its inaugural principal. He previously served as assistant principal at Burnett Junior High. Dr. Andie Doty, formerly the district's Director of Assessment and Accountability, will lead Parker Junior High with two decades of experience in education, according to the district.
New attendance zones
The opening of two campuses means new attendance zones. Wylie ISD's rezoning page, updated July 20, contains boundary maps for affected families. The district's back-to-school page lists bus routes and registration resources. Families in the Wylie East zone should confirm their campus assignment before August 13.
The schools are named for community pillars. O.W. Hampton was a volunteer firefighter, city council member, school board trustee, and mayor. Richard Parker, a 1965 Wylie ISD graduate, established an endowment funding annual scholarships for graduating seniors at Wylie High School, Wylie East High School, and Achieve Academy.
"We are truly humbled by this honor. Personally, for me, you've made a lifelong Pirates fan into a Raiders fan," Richard Hampton, son of the late O.W. Hampton, said at the October 21, 2025 groundbreaking ceremony for the two campuses.
Sachse High Mustang Round-Up: August 6
On the Garland ISD side, Sachse High School (3901 Miles Rd.) hosts its annual Mustang Round-Up on Thursday, August 6, with doors opening at 7:30 a.m. Students and parents can walk their schedules, locate classrooms, meet teachers, and handle last-minute registration before the first day on Monday, August 10.
Freshmen and students new to the building will benefit from arriving close to 7:30 a.m., when hallways are less crowded, the Sachse Journal reported.
As we reported July 29, every Garland ISD student must wear a visible ID badge starting August 10. The badge is also required to board and exit school buses. Families attending the Round-Up can confirm their student's badge is ready.
Sales tax holiday
The Texas back-to-school sales tax holiday runs Friday, August 7 through Sunday, August 9, covering most clothing and footwear priced under $100 per item and qualifying school supplies. No coupon or registration is required at Sachse-area retailers.
