Wylie Area Chamber of Commerce member Ken Hopkins attended the Texas Stock Exchange's first-ever closing bell ceremony in Dallas on Sept. 16.

Hopkins, founder of Orion Wealth Management, said he helped get the Texas Capital Texas Equity Index ETF approved for sale through LPL Financial's network of 32,000 advisors. The fund trades under the ticker TXS. It was one of two ETFs that became the exchange's first primary listings that day, transferring from NYSE Arca, according to a Texas Capital press release.

"The ticker symbol is TXS, and it was just listed on the Texas Stock Exchange," Hopkins wrote in a post on the Wylie Chamber website. He said Orion is pursuing additional collaborations with Texas Capital Bank and targeting $1 billion in assets under custody.

Hopkins also introduced Wes Gentry as Orion's new Director of Ultra High Net Worth Services.

The ceremony took place at Texas Capital's Uptown Dallas headquarters and featured remarks from Texas Secretary of State Robert Howden, TXSE Chairman and CEO James H. Lee and Texas Capital Chairman, President and CEO Rob C. Holmes, The Dallas Morning News reported. The exchange launched trading of more than 13,000 U.S. stock symbols in July and is backed by $275 million from investors including BlackRock, Citadel Securities, Charles Schwab and Goldman Sachs, according to The Texas Tribune.

TXSE bills itself as the first national securities exchange built and headquartered in Texas. It plans to facilitate initial public offerings in 2027, American Banker reported.

Two days after the ceremony, Dillard's announced it will move its primary stock listing from the New York Stock Exchange to TXSE. The retailer has 54 Texas locations and reincorporated from Delaware to Texas in August 2025, according to a company press release. "Dillard's is a storied, national retail brand, and we are proud to have earned the transfer of their primary listing off of the New York Stock Exchange, where it had resided for almost 40 years," Lee said Sept. 18, as WFAA reported.

Orion Wealth Management is based in Richardson and serves small business owners, physicians, high-net-worth individuals and retirees, according to its Wylie Chamber listing.

Dillard's shares are expected to begin trading on TXSE on Oct. 5, and Texas Capital Bancshares plans to follow on Oct. 8.
