Wylie East junior Evangeline Williams placed 23rd in 18:34 at the Coach T Marcus Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 5. Her finish paced the Lady Raiders to 10th place as a team in the elite girls 5K at North Lakes Park in Denton.

The race drew 298 runners from programs across Texas, according to the Wise County Messenger. Highland Park won the team title with 106 points, followed by Salado (155) and Austin Vandegrift (170). Aledo, Round Rock, Katy, Marcus, Prosper and Frisco Wakeland also finished ahead of Wylie East.

Williams carried momentum into the meet after finishing second at the DUBEast Invitational on Aug. 28. That smaller field gave her a top finish. The Coach T field tested her against a much larger pack, and she came away 23rd out of nearly 300 runners.

Four Lady Raiders followed Williams across the line. Freshman Olivia Jeffcoats placed 59th in 19:29. Junior Amiya Runsewe was 125th in 20:37, junior Isabelle Price finished 138th in 20:49 and junior Reagan Tolar came in 175th in 21:20, per the Wylie News.

Jeffcoats' 19:29 stood out as the second-fastest Lady Raider time on the day, less than a minute behind Williams.

On the boys side, sophomore Tyson Em paced the Raiders with a 92nd-place finish in 16:31. Junior Jaden Parish ran 107th in 16:39 and freshman Carson Clark placed 164th in 17:04. Sophomore Isaac Pretus took 243rd in 17:41 and sophomore Holden Ring finished 254th in 17:46. The gap between Em and Ring was one minute and 15 seconds across a spread of 162 places. No overall team placement for the boys was available.

Wylie East's next cross country meet date had not been announced as of Sept. 10.
