Nineteen of Wylie ISD's 21 campuses earned A ratings in the Texas Education Agency's 2026 accountability scores, keeping the district at an overall A with a score of 92 for the ninth consecutive year.

Grove Elementary and A.B. Harrison Intermediate School were the two campuses that dropped to B ratings, scoring 89 and 88 respectively, according to the Dallas Morning News. Both had earned A's in 2025.

Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction Amanda Lannan presented the campus-by-campus breakdown to all seven trustees at the board's Monday, Aug. 17 meeting. About 115 visitors attended.

The TEA released the statewide ratings on Aug. 14. Across Texas, 61 percent of public schools received an A or B, up 2 percent from the prior year, according to Spectrum News. Wylie ISD's 92 places it well above that threshold.

The A-F system evaluates campuses on student achievement, school progress and closing achievement gaps, using STAAR results, academic growth, graduation rates and college, career and military readiness indicators.

Superintendent Dr. Kim Spicer said in the district's Aug. 14 press release that the rating "represents thousands of people showing up every day and doing their jobs with excellence. Every person in this district has a hand in this accomplishment."

Board president Bill Howard, in the same release, called the results "something our entire community can be proud of because it takes all of us working together for our kids."

The district serves nearly 20,000 students across campuses in Wylie, Sachse and Murphy. The Collin County Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program is counted in TEA's school total for the district but does not receive a letter grade.

At the same meeting, trustees voted 7-0 to adopt the tax rate ordinance for the 2026-2027 school year and 7-0 to call a general trustee election for Places 1, 2, 5 and 6 on Nov. 3.

All seven board members were present: Bill Howard, Jacob Day, Suzi Kennon, Virdie Montgomery, Kylie Reising, Staci Smith and Mike Williams.
