Wylie ISD students at two new schools started classes in August, completing a $136.3 million expansion funded by the 2023 Growth Management Bond.

O.W. Hampton Intermediate and Richard Parker Junior High, the district's 22nd and 23rd campuses, sit on adjacent sites off Kreymer Lane between Brown Street and Mossy Oak Lane in Wylie. Hampton Intermediate, which serves grades 5 and 6, cost approximately $56.9 million. Parker Junior High, serving grades 7 and 8, cost approximately $79.4 million, according to the Wylie Times.

Both schools feed into Wylie East High School.

Voters approved the bond on Nov. 7, 2023, by a margin of 3,975 to 3,268 out of 7,243 total votes, according to Wylie ISD's bond page.

The openings mark a milestone for Superintendent Dr. Kim Spicer, who became the first woman to lead the district in its nearly 125-year history. The Wylie ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved her hiring on Oct. 21, 2025, after she served as deputy superintendent since 2018.

Dale Ramirez was named Hampton Intermediate's inaugural principal in December 2025. Dr. Andie Doty was named the inaugural principal at Parker Junior High that same month.

The campuses are named for two longtime Wylie figures. O.W. "Hamp" Hampton was a Navy veteran, former Wylie mayor, school board member and volunteer firefighter who lived in Wylie for more than 50 years. Richard Parker was a lifelong Wylie resident, former school board member, business leader and scholarship benefactor, according to the district's groundbreaking announcement.

The expansion comes as Wylie ISD posted an 88 out of 100 — a B rating — in the Texas Education Agency's 2026 A-F Accountability Ratings, released in August. Four of the district's six independently rated campuses earned an A: Wylie East Elementary and Wylie East Junior High each scored 91 (the junior high up from an 89 last year), while Wylie West Intermediate and Wylie West Junior High each scored 90. Wylie High School earned an 85 (B) and Wylie East Intermediate a 79 (C). Most of the district's elementary and early-childhood campuses are paired with another campus for state accountability purposes and don't receive individual ratings. Wylie ISD was also named a Scholar District on the 2025 Texas Honor Roll by Educational Results Partnership, a distinction 84 districts statewide earned.

Wylie ISD serves nearly 20,000 students across 23 campuses in Wylie, Sachse and Murphy.
