Wylie ISD earned a 92 and its ninth consecutive 'A' rating from the Texas Education Agency, the state announced Friday, Aug. 14. The district has never scored below an 'A' since Texas launched the A-F accountability system in 2018.

Nineteen of the district's 21 rated campuses also earned A's. The remaining two scored 88 and 89, landing them in the high-B range. The district did not identify which campuses received the B ratings.

The streak is unbroken. But this year's campus-level results represent a slight shift from 2025, when every eligible campus earned an A. The district-wide score ticked up even as two campuses slipped at the individual level.

"We are incredibly proud to once again be an A-rated district, and I hope we never forget what that 'A' really represents," Superintendent Dr. Kim Spicer said in the district's announcement. "It represents thousands of people showing up every day and doing their jobs with excellence."

Spicer, the district's first female superintendent in its nearly 125-year history, joined Wylie ISD in 2015 and has served in district leadership through the entire run of A ratings.

Board President Bill Howard called the results something the entire community can claim, crediting parents, teachers and staff. The district serves roughly 19,400 students across campuses in Wylie, Sachse and Murphy.

The TEA's A-F system grades districts on student achievement, school progress and closing achievement gaps. It draws on STAAR scores, academic growth data, graduation rates and college, career and military readiness indicators. Statewide, the agency rated 1,202 districts and 9,105 campuses in 2026; 24% of districts improved their rating compared to 2025, and 85% of campuses scored a C or above.

Kreymer Elementary, which opened during the 2025-26 school year, was not yet eligible for a rating.

The ratings are preliminary. Districts have until Friday, Sept. 11, to file appeals before the TEA finalizes scores later this year. A detailed accountability report goes before the Wylie ISD Board of Trustees at its Monday, Aug. 17, meeting. Full ratings are available at TXschools.gov.
