A 42-year-old Wylie resident died Tuesday, Sept. 22, after his motorcycle collided with an SUV near South Ballard Avenue and Elm Drive, according to Wylie police.

Officers and Wylie Fire Rescue crews responded around 6 p.m. after a 911 caller reported a man lying unresponsive on the ground. Emergency crews attempted life-saving measures, but the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police identified the victim as Anthony Mills.

The driver of the SUV stayed at the crash site and is cooperating with investigators, police said. No charges have been announced.

Wylie Police Accident Investigators and detectives from the department's Criminal Investigations Division, or CID, responded to the scene to determine what led to the crash. The department has not released the SUV driver's name or any preliminary findings on speed, right-of-way or impairment. Police said no further details are available while the investigation continues.

WFAA first reported the crash Wednesday, Sept. 23, citing Wylie police. The Wylie Police Department has not issued its own public press release specific to the Sept. 22 collision.

The crash is the latest fatal traffic incident investigated by Wylie police. In June 2024, Solomon Solomon, a 71-year-old Murphy resident, was struck and killed by a vehicle on North State Highway 78 at Kreymer Lane. In that case, the driver cooperated and no criminal charges were expected, according to a Wylie Police Department press release. Wylie reported a 10 percent increase in motor vehicle accidents in 2023 over the prior year, according to a February 2024 department report.
