Wylie Prep beat Harvest Christian 46-32 in the Patriots' season opener Saturday, Aug. 29, building a big early lead and smothering the opposition after halftime.

The Patriots raced ahead in the first half and made a critical defensive stand in the red zone just before the break, according to The Wylie News, which reported from the game. Wylie Prep then held Harvest Christian to just 8 points in the second half, turning a competitive opening two quarters into a lopsided finish.

Cade Magouyrk and Ace Garcia carried the offense.

Garcia converted a fourth-and-7 run that kept a long drive alive early in the fourth quarter. Magouyrk capped that possession with a touchdown on a sweep around the right end, pushing the lead to 46-24 with 9:53 remaining. The sequence showed the kind of complementary play the Patriots leaned on all night: Garcia grinding out tough yardage on the ground, Magouyrk finishing in the end zone.

The duo connected again with the game winding down. On a fourth-and-2 play with 1:40 left, Magouyrk hit Garcia for a big gain to move the chains and run out the clock. The Wylie News described the play as "a little tricky," suggesting a designed misdirection call.

Harvest Christian added 8 points late to set the final at 46-32, but the outcome was settled well before that. The Patriots' second-half defense was the story: after allowing 24 first-half points, Wylie Prep gave up just one more score the rest of the way.

The win puts the Wylie private school at 1-0 to open the 2026 campaign. The Patriots are next scheduled to face Weatherford Christian on Saturday, Sept. 5, according to Weatherford Christian's athletics schedule.
