Daylon Gordon scored five touchdowns and piled up 333 yards of total offense as Wylie beat Mesquite Horn 58-26 on Thursday, Sept. 10, at Wylie ISD Stadium.

The Pirates (3-0) racked up more than 600 yards of total offense on Senior Night, their first home game of the season. It marks a sharp turnaround from 2025, when Wylie opened with back-to-back losses and finished 4-6, missing the playoffs.

Gordon, committed to Texas State, did damage on the ground and through the air. He finished with 120 receiving yards and 113 rushing yards, according to The Wylie News.

Quarterback Jabriran "J.B." Blake accounted for 383 total yards and three touchdowns. Tre Pierce added 54 receiving yards on three catches. Tanner Zachary averaged 10.6 yards per carry, finishing with 53 rushing yards on five attempts.

The defense forced four turnovers. Donnie Skinner picked off two passes. Both interceptions came deep in Horn territory.

"I thought we came out a little flat, Thursday game, Senior Night, first home game, but I thought they picked it up in the second half and the kids played hard," head coach Jimmy Carter said.

Carter is in his seventh season leading the Pirates, who have made the playoffs 30 times in program history. The 3-0 start gives the program a cushion it lacked a year ago.

The Blake-Gordon combination has been the engine all season. In the Week 2 win at Lake Highlands, a 41-26 road victory on Friday, Sept. 4, the two combined for 400 of Wylie's 425 total yards. Gordon carried 23 times for 167 yards and two scores in that game, while Blake rushed for 146 yards and three touchdowns and threw for 87 yards and another score.

Wylie opened the season with a 41-23 win over Richardson Pearce on Aug. 28.

Three straight double-digit wins set up a District 9-6A opener with real stakes. The Pirates host Sachse at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, at Wylie ISD Stadium.
